Spring has brought changes in Avalon Hotel – now the restaurant’s new chef is Egils Grinfelds – new, talented and creative man!



Egils grew up in a small town, Lubana, at the Aiviekstes riverside. He gained professional experience working alongside his mentors – Martins Ritins and Lauris Aleksejevs in hotels "Roland" and "Ridzene" restaurants, later in hotel "Bergs" restaurant and as chef led banquet and catering business of International Exhibition Centre "Kipsala".
In leisure time his passion and creativity expresses through art of professional photography. Egils lives off a motto that says – "Love what you do, otherwise nothing will work out". Culinary art for Egils is a way of life style surrounded by creative expression, motion and continuous dynamics. Now these colorful changes Egils will implement in "Avalon" offers. About what can be expected from the new menu concept new chef says: "My goal is highly qualitative and eye enjoyable meals, those are not only delicious, but also looks appetizing".
Restaurant "Avalon" treats its guests with wide choice of modern European cuisines, as well as with new style Latvian national dishes. Meals mainly are prepared from local, fresh and carefully selected products. Moreover, restaurant Avalon is member of the movement Free from GMO (free from genetically modified organism) that ensures natural taste of the dishes, and is Eco-certificated by Green Key, is a promoter of green idea in Riga.
New chef, Egils Grinfelds, masterly and creatively uses the latest trends in the world of gastronomy, granting restaurant "Avalon" fusion-style cuisine with new and novel flavor combinations that will pleasantly surprise even the most exquisite gourmets.

We are proud with eco-certificate „Green Key”, which was granted to us in January 2015.


„Green Key” is an international voluntary eco-certificate for tourism facilities that promotes sustainable tourism. It is a non-governmental, non-profit, independent programme and is recognised and supported by the World Tourism Organization and UNEP. „Green Key” is the largest global eco-certificate for accommodation.


Our goals are to:


• contribute to the prevention of climate change by awarding and advocating facilities with positive environmental initiatives.
• raise the awareness of leisure establishment staff and clients,
• increase the use of sustainable methods of operation and technology,
• run ecologically sound and responsible business,
• reduce resource and energy usage


Obtaining the „Green Key” eco-certificate presents our sense of responsibility for our surroundings and society.





LTDA  named the contest winners and quality mark acquirers at the "Latvian Tourism Forum"



On 6th December 2013, at the "Latvian Tourism Forum"  in festive atmosphere were awarded prizes, diplomas and quality proof marks, symbolically pulling the stripe to the active and the same time successful year.

At the Forum were congratulated 11 quality mark "Q Latvia" beneficiaries, including "Avalon Hotel".

LTDA Director Armands Slokenbergs presented quality mark and highlighted the importance of the quality of service

Quality System "Q Latvia" requires for each mark applicant to evaluate their work with a critical eye and make improvements to enhance the level of provided service.




Movement "Free of GMOs" joins the first hotel – Avalon Hotel

  Four-star hotel "Avalon" is the first hotel that on 4th of January, 2012 has joined the movement "Free of GMOs", thus expressing its feelings and choices, respecting the Latvian and majority of European public rejection of genetically modified (GM) crops and food use. The hotel is committed to offering its customers in the restaurant and bar only those foods in which preparation will not be used products, containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

  Quotation of the Avalon Hotel AVALON HOTEL was opened on the 6th of June, 2007 and this year celebrates its 5th anniversary. In this context, the hotel AVALON planned several events and days, especially when visitors are particular welcome to familiarize themselves with the services and facilities, moreover the hotel is actively implementing new activities, programs and improvements to the guests and its employees, including healthy lifestyle, nature and environment protection - one of them is the join the movement "Free of GMOs".

  The hotel offers its guests 111 standard and executive rooms, suites and Junior, as well as rooms for families and individuals with special needs, a restaurant, bar, summer roof terrace with spectacular views over the Old church towers, conference and seminar rooms for up to 200 persons with modern technical equipment and full catering services, as well as rooms for banquets, presentations and press conferences. The hotel is different from other 4-star hotel with its excellent location, modern sound isolation in construction of rooms and public areas, modern room facilities, such as flat-screen TVs, high-speed wireless Internet connection ( in the hotel is free), laptop-sized safes, iron and ironing board with an automatic shut-off mode. To our  guests comfort , the hotel has parking for light motor vehicles and buses, as well as underground parking that during summer time is especially  popular for tourists traveling on motorcycles- particularly Harley Davidson riders.
